Job description

At Williams Racing, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and performance in motorsport. Are you a passionate Composites Laminator Technician ready to take on your next challenge and join a fast-paced team? This is your chance to play a critical role in the continuous improvement of our vehicle and shape our future.

As a Composites Laminator Technician, you will manufacture, repair, and maintain composite parts using materials such as carbon fibre, fibreglass, and resin. This role involves a Saturday to Monday weekend day shift from 06:30 to 18:30.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Using pre-impregnated tooling fabric to laminate moulds directly from patterns, ensuring adherence to technical procedures, QA documentation, work orders, and sign-offs.
  • Applying vacuum bagging techniques to debulk.
  • Positioning drill bushes in the mould laminate.
  • Parting moulds from patterns and preparing tools for pre- and post-cure processes.
  • Laminating components with pre-impregnated carbon using various weave styles and epoxy resin systems, following all procedural and documentation standards.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and Ply Books using Williams CAD system to extract relevant information.
  • Creating templates to ensure repeatability in production.
  • Utilising Honeycomb as a sandwich core material, either from drawings or pre-machined cores.
  • De-moulding and drilling cured components in preparation for subsequent processes.
Candidate Requirements:

We are seeking a Composites Laminator Technician with experience in:

  • Manufacturing composite components, including mould making, lamination, and vacuum bagging.
  • Laminating and assembling in high-performance environments, ideally in F1 or similar motorsport sectors.

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour, conduct, and department presentation.
  • Adhering to quality standards and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding and complying with cost cap rules and requirements.

  • Engagement with the Component Faults system (MPI).
  • Adaptability, initiative, teamwork, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
  • Accurate data management within business MRP software.
