Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Composites Design Engineer in Oxfordshire for a contract role focused on designing composite components in a fast-paced motorsport environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in Formula 1, proficiency in Siemens NX, and strong knowledge of composite materials. This is a hybrid position expected to last 3 months with a competitive hourly rate.

Job Title: Composites Design Engineer

Location: Oxfordshire
Contract Type: Contract
Rate: 40-42 per hour Outside IR35
Length: 3 Months Initial working Hybrid

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Composites Design Engineer with a strong background in Formula 1 or high-performance motorsport environments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, precision-driven setting and has hands-on experience designing composite bodywork from concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop composite components, primarily bodywork, using Siemens NX.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial concept through to final design release.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and tooling teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for composite parts and assemblies.
  • Apply design-for-manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Support tooling design and liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and feasibility.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a Formula 1 or high-level motorsport environment.
  • Proficient in Siemens NX CAD software.
  • Strong background in composite materials and bodywork design.
  • Experience with tooling design and design for manufacture.
  • Ability to manage the full design lifecycle from concept to release.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
