Job summary

Piran Composites in Newquay specialises in high-spec carbon fibre parts for aerospace and defence. We are recruiting a hands-on production operator to trim, bond and laminate components to exacting standards, reading technical drawings and following work instructions.

You will work on Early or Evening shifts, Monday to Friday, with training provided and a path to build specialist skills in pre-preg laminates.

Qualifications

• Hands-on work in engineering/manufacturing preferred, with ability to learn quickly.
• Good communication skills and teamwork are essential.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Hand trimming and bonding carbon composite components to high accuracy
• Read and interpret engineering drawings with fits and tolerances
• Bond ultra-lightweight aero-structures
• Follow work instructions, manuals and customer specs
• Ensure parts meet quality and traceability standards
• Maintain PPE and shop equipment
• Work to production and quality targets
• Report non-conformities to Production Engineer
• Laminate pre-preg components is advantageous

Piran Composites are an advanced carbon fibre manufacturing company producing high specification components and structures for aerospace and defence OEMs.

Training will be provided for each task you will be expected to perform, however, ability to be able to work "hands on" with a background in engineering/manufacturing would be beneficial. Transferrable entry skills range from carpentry, welding, working with materials. Some examples of the tasks you will be performing below:

Main Tasks of the Job

• Hand trimming and bonding a variety of carbon composite components to a very high degree of accuracy and quality

• Read and interpret technical engineering drawings including fits and tolerances

• Bonding of ultra lightweight composite aero structures

• Follow work instructions, engineering manuals and customer specifications

• Ensure parts meet the required customer quality and traceability standards

• Work within Health and Safety guidelines at all times

• Use and maintain all supplied personal protective equipment in good condition

• Maintain all company tools and equipment in a safe and clean workable condition

• Working to achieve production and quality targets set for the department

• Report non-conformities and quality related issues to the Production Engineer

• Being able to laminate pre-preg composite components is advantageous

-We are currently recruiting for the following shifts: Early Shift 6:00am to 14:00pm & Evening Shift 14:00pm-22:00pm. Monday- Friday

To succeed in this role you will require good communication skills, ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge in correct methods, be a team player, good time keeping and be able to work under pressure but also in a relaxed environment. Experience and skill operating computers and MS office a plus.
