My client is seeking a passionate Composite Technical Lead. Working within the Manufacturing Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the on-time and on-cost delivery of parts to build composite products and systems. They will collaborate with the Design Team and Mechanical Engineers to develop efficient and practical processes.

Role Overview

The Composite Technical Lead will have both a leadership and hands-on role to build high-quality composite components. Working within a small team, they will organize labor, process work, and oversee training and development of new operators.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Ensure the delivery of the production plan and manufacturing/assembly processes.
• Lead by example, maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
• Organize labor to meet the production schedule.
• Liaise with support functions for timely component delivery.
• Train new operators and maintain skills matrices.
• Address quality rejects promptly to ensure smooth production.
• Ensure compliance with company, regulatory, quality, health, and safety procedures.
• Schedule overtime within preapproved levels.
• Track labor hours accurately.
• Maintain 5S standards and visual metrics.
• Focus on continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance management.
• Develop and maintain visual management systems.
• Investigate quality, process, and safety issues.
• Ensure clear communication with team members.
• Handle rework and repairs as necessary.
• Manage materials like Carbon, E-Glass, and foam.
• Prepare and assemble moulds and tooling.
• Cut and lay Prepreg materials.
• Perform vacuum bagging and curing.
• Trim, assemble, and fit composite parts.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in both Prepreg and wet laminating.

Preferred Experience

• Team leadership experience and project management skills.
• Knowledge of KPIs and operational processes.
• Familiarity with LEAN and 5S methodologies.

Technical Skills include:

• Leading lamination teams to meet production plans.
• Planning tasks, resources, and materials.
• Understanding of processes and ability to learn new ones.
• Creating and communicating SOPs.
• Reading technical drawings and instructions.
• Maintaining workplace organization standards.
