We are looking for a Composite Manufacturing Team Leader to join our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day output, quality, and management of the composite manufacturing team. Ensuring the labour capacity, skill set, and manufacturing strategy is established to deliver projects right first time (RFT) to achievable plans. To develop the composite manufacturing team, improving performance, reducing costs without effecting quality or lead-time.

Key accountabilities

  • To provide a working environment and organisation in line with ISO certification and 6S lean methodology
  • To provide access to essential business system Hardware & Software required to adequately perform direct workshop functions.
  • To ensure Standard Production Specifications (SPS) are available, accessible, revision controlled and current.
  • To contribute to the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) validating the Production Engineering stages including Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Design for Manufacture (DFM) & Budget.
  • Ensure a validated technical instruction method & task signoff approval process is available & accessible for each part within the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing suitable capacity control in line with utilisation and programme deliverables targets.
  • Ensure Manufacturing History Record (MHR) documentation is available, accessible, and maintained for each part within the manufacturing process.

Essential competencies

  • An authority of Composite Manufacturing requirements and operational demands, able to confirm adequate technical instruction against to successfully & reliable carry out tasks, right first time, to schedule.
  • Demonstrate excellent technical & operational knowledge of the composite tooling cycle from pattern to mould tool establishing suitable quality standards are achieved right first time (RFT).
  • Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of pre-preg & dry cloth materials, laminate specification, weaving orientation, use of herringbone patterns, complex layup procedures/techniques, use of mandrels (or similar), technical adhesives, cure management, fitting methods, structural properties respecting & achieving visual carbon detailing expectations.
  • Extensive knowledge of cores & inserts commonly used with performance composite manufacturing and their handling, preparation, and installation methods.
  • Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of reliable vacuum bagging a wide range of components moulds using industry techniques and procedures.
