Job summary

Red Bull Advanced Technologies in Milton Keynes is seeking a Composite Laminator to support high-precision carbon composite work for advanced engineering projects. You will ensure layups, tooling, and component manufacture meet strict specifications with attention to quality and traceability.

The role requires interpreting technical instructions, using layup techniques, and logging activity in MES/MRP systems. A strong team environment and commitment to lean principles are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and drawings to perform laminating tasks accurately.
• Strong laminating skills with knowledge of prepreg materials, layup patterns, and quality expectations.
• Proficiency with hand tools and equipment used in composite work.
• Experience vacuum bagging a range of components using standard industry techniques.
• Ability to log activity in MES/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide a compliant working environment in line with ISO and 6S lean principles.
• Input production data accurately into MES and Production Management tools.
• Prepare production tooling per SPS specifications.
• Manufacture composite tooling following technical instruction and signoff processes.
• Manufacture composite components following established methods and approvals.
• Operate laser projection equipment for critical measurements.
• Carry out Romer measurement and Laser Tracker scans as needed.
• Enter data into Manufacturing History Records for traceability.

We are looking for a Composite Laminator to join the team.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide a working environment and organisation in line with ISO certification and 6S lean methodology.
• Accurate & timely input into Manufacturing Execution System (MES) & Production Management tools accounting for all productive time.
• Preparation of Production Tooling in line with Standard Production Specification (SPS).
• Composite Tooling Manufacture in line with technical instruction method & signoff approval process.
• Composite Component Manufacture in line with technical instruction method & signoff approval process.
• To operate laser projection equipment to guide & confirm key measurements inputs.
• Carry out Romer measurement & Laser Tracker scans as required to define or confirm critical feature positions.
• Accurate & timely input entry into the Manufacturing History Record (MHR) documentation to which each part is accompanied by.

Key Competencies

• Demonstrate ability to read/interpret technical instruction (drawings, laminating manuals, etc) to carry out laminating tasks, right first time, to schedule.
• Demonstrate an effective laminating skill set with good technical knowledge of pre-preg materials, laminate specification, weaving orientation, use of herringbone patterns, complex layup procedures/techniques, use of mandrels (or similar), respecting & achieving visual carbon detailing expectations.
• Demonstrate extensive control, knowledge, and competency in using hand-tools & equipment relevant to task.
• Competent skill set to reliably vacuum bag a wide range of components moulds using industry techniques and procedures.
• Ability to use MES (Manufacturing Execution System) & MRP (Material Requirements Planning) (MRP) systems to log activity and to interrogate job content.
