Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Composite Assembly Technician for night shifts to contribute to Formula One car build across multiple functions in the composites facility.

You will trim and assemble carbon fibre components, read engineering drawings, and assemble sub-assemblies while aiming for the highest quality under tight race-week schedules.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, problem solving, and collaboration within a fast-paced environment that values safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience trimming and assembling carbon fibre components.
• Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings and instruction sheets.
• A practical engineering background with strong hands-on assembly skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver quality work under tight timescales.
• Clear communication and basic PC literacy.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble Formula One car sub-assemblies, main car components and associated support equipment.
• Trim and assemble carbon fibre components in line with engineering drawings and specific instruction sheets.
• Inspect completed components to ensure they meet the required quality and engineering standards.
• Complete the initial assembly of new car parts, service items returning from races and tests, and prepare components for NDT inspection.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities while following company health and safety requirements.

What You'll Do

• Build and assemble Formula One car sub-assemblies, main car components and associated support equipment.
• Trim and assemble carbon fibre components in line with engineering drawings and specific instruction sheets.
• Inspect completed components to ensure they meet the required quality and engineering standards.
• Complete the initial assembly of new car parts, service items returning from races and tests, and prepare components for NDT inspection.
