Job summary

Fortescue Zero Racing is seeking a Composite & Team Mechanical Support to assemble, repair and support composite and garage systems for the Fortescue Zero Formula E Team. You will assist with wheel/tyre management, TPMS and garage operations both on events and at the factory.

The role requires hands-on ability, strong teamwork, and adherence to safety policies in a high-speed motorsport environment. Lift, bend and operate in a dynamic race setting is expected.

• Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast paced race/test setting.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, adjust, repair and disassemble composite components on event and at the factory.
• Assemble/repair/maintain components, pit and garage equipment and car hardware.
• Prepare wheels, tyres and TPMS units; manage tyre fitting and session adjustments.
• Set up and maintain race and test garage infrastructures on event and at the factory.
• Provide hands-on support for factory operations as required.
• Possess a vehicle wrapping skillset for complex bodywork and garage infra components.
• Provide feedback on component issues and ensure safety policies are followed.

An opportunity has arisen for a Composite & Team Mechanical Support to join Fortescue Zero Racing!

About The Role

The purpose of the role is to provide composite component assembly, repair and mechanical and garage support to the Fortescue Zero Formula E Team. To bring the expertise, process and hands-on ability necessary to provide the Fortescue Zero Formula E Team with composite component assembly and repair on event and at the factory. To support the team with garage operational support including wheel and tyre management and garage build and function. Support the Race, Test and factory teams in their operational goals, being able to assist with other hands-on team requirements as required.

What you will do

• Assemble, adjust, repair and disassemble the team’s composite components on event and at the factory.
• Assemble / repair / maintain components, pit and garage equipment and car hardware as required.
• Liaising with race engineering, prepare wheels, tyres and TPMS units and then arrange fitting, before managing tyres during sessions at race and test events. Will include in-session pressure adjustments, tyre running and supplier / engineer liaison.
• Assemble and maintain race and test garage infrastructures and hardware both on event and when at the factory.
• Provide hands on support for factory operations as required.
• Ideally, possess a good vehicle wrapping skillset; able to confidently wrap complex bodywork and garage infrastructure components.
• Provide feedback of any component issues and problems.
• Adhere to all Jag FE and wider business processes and policies.
• Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

About You

• Experience of solid composite trackside assembly and on event repair experience, in a motorsport environment.
• A confident team player, familiar with the fast paced and ever-changing requirements of a race and test team.
• Be able to work independently to strict deadlines as well as being a strong team player.
• To be able to work under their own initiative when necessary.
• To have a ‘can do’ proactive attitude and proactively support others.
• Complete tasks given within agreed time frames.
• Flexible attitude to working hours.
• To follow and actively enforce the company’s health and Safety and HV policies.
• This position may require lifting, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
