Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic Component Service Engineer for a placement year in Huddersfield, UK. You will join the Service for our Comp Service Leadership unit and gain exposure to how a major global organization operates while developing practical engineering skills.

The role requires being onsite three days per week, with the ability to travel or relocate as needed. You will work alongside OEM teams, handle data capture and warranty information, and contribute to issue resolution

Qualifications

• Currently working towards a STEM degree (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Vehicle Engineering or Aerospace Engineering).
• Willingness to adopt a hands-on approach.
• Structured, analytical approach to problem solving.
• Flexible, able to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Supporting identification, resolution and implementation of fixes on key product issues with Automotive OEMs.
• Initial data capture and warranty claim information processing.
• Analysis of customer returned parts and field investigation for potential product issues.
• Supporting OEM account teams in finding resolutions to customer issues.
• Component failure assessment and processing.
• Identification of key customer issues through data analysis.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Component Service Engineer to join our team specializing in Service for our Comp Service Leadership business unit in Huddersfield, UK. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer 2027. The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Supporting the identification, resolution and implementation of fixes on key product issues with Automotive OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
• Initial data capture and Warranty claim information processing
• Analysis of customer returned parts and field investigation for potential product issues
• Supporting OEM account teams in finding resolutions to Customer issues
• Component failure assessment and processing
• Identification of Key Customer issues through data analysis

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Currently working towards a degree in STEM Subject, preferably Mechanical engineering, Automotive vehicle engineering or Aerospace engineering degree
• Willingness to adapt a hands on approach.
• Structured, analytical approach to problem solving.
• Flexible approach to work, able to work as part of a team and independently.
