Overview

Components & Raw Material Purchaser – Nuneaton & Hinckley | Full-Time (40 hours) | Salary: £28,000

We're looking for a proactive Components & Raw Material Purchaser to join our client. This role is key to ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials used in steel-based and assembled finished products. Working across two operational sites, you'll report to the Supply Chain Manager and work closely with the Production Manager, ensuring procurement strategies align seamlessly with production requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Source, plan, and purchase a variety of raw materials and components to meet production schedules.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure material availability and avoid delays.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and manage stock control systems.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure reliability, quality, and value.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Monitor supplier performance, manage risks, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Maintain detailed procurement records, including pricing history and supplier performance.
  • Partner with the Quality team to resolve supplier or material issues.
  • Support continuous improvement and contribute to long-term sourcing strategies.
About You
  • 3-5 years' experience in purchasing/procurement (ideally steel-related).
  • Strong negotiation skills and proven supplier management experience.
  • Knowledge of inventory and stock management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
  • (Preferred) Experience with international sourcing and logistics.
  • (Advantage) Familiarity with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
