Our Supply Chain Services teams play a crucial role in helping to deliver the Nando’s strategic goals through providing a robust and stable supply chain, supporting running restaurants brilliantly, improving gross profit and margin, and addressing risk.
The Technical Sourcing team is responsible for developing strategies with purpose, ensuring we source ethical, safe, legal, and high-quality products and services for our customers, with commitments to sustainability and animal welfare. The team is seeking a Technologist with quality systems and technical expertise to contribute to Nando’s delivering on these strategies and commitments in a commercially savvy, safe way.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Regularly review the external landscape to determine legislation changes, industry best practices, and emerging risks in product categories, ensuring communication with the Nando's Technical Sourcing Team.
- Develop and implement new procedures and policies within the Technical Sourcing Team and support the wider business, with input from Technical Managers and Technologists, for review and approval with relevant teams.
- Update relevant policies, procedures, and processes with changes, incorporating emerging risks, legislation changes, and industry best practices, to drive continuous improvements in quality and safety.
- Complete the relevant Nando's period report for the Head of Technical Sourcing monthly, liaising with the Technical Sourcing Team.
- Stay informed about supply chain and product trends from Nando's suppliers, updating the team to influence Nando’s NPD and Policies accordingly.
- Manage relationships with Audit and Laboratory partners, ensuring contract deliverables meet Nando's priorities and business requirements.
- Monitor laboratory results and inform the Technical Sourcing team of any non-compliance to facilitate corrective actions.
- Review third-party audit and supplier visit data, identifying trends that do not meet expectations to enable corrective actions.
Suppliers:
- Develop and manage a risk-based plan for supplier compliance visits, based on KPI performance and food policy compliance, ensuring actions are completed and templates are created.
- Create and manage a 3rd party Nando's audit standard template, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring the audit partner is fully trained. Develop a risk-based audit schedule and manage the audit partner to assess supplier performance.
- Report on supply base improvement and compliance, supporting review meetings.
- Engage with industry bodies to support supply chain processes and drive industry change.
- Manage relationships with laboratory and audit partners to meet Nando's expectations, reviewing contracts to ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Ensure Nando's Food Policy and related tools are kept up to date with input from the Technical team.
Products:
- Maintain a risk-based product surveillance testing plan and report trends.
- Keep product risk assessments and QC testing trackers updated.
- Create reports from the Foods Connected system to support supplier and product management.
- Advise support functions on product-related quality, safety, legal, ethical, and sustainability issues.
The candidate should possess / have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or retail, ideally in a large, fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Experience managing food certification standards, audits, and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of BRCGS/GFSI certification requirements and relevant legislation.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Qualifications: HACCP Level 3, Allergen Management, Food Labelling/Law, Auditing.
