Job summary

A food service company is seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Technician for a 12-month contract in Newcastle. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, supporting quality assurance activities, and conducting audits. Responsibilities

  • Logging and checking HACCP and food safety documentation.
  • Updating Compliance Activity Planners for month-end reports.
  • Maintaining Compliance information files.
  • Supporting documentation collation for customer complaints.
  • Assessing HACCP against new products.
  • Reviewing H&S documentation including risk assessments.
  • Completing Accident Investigation reports.
  • Conducting Quality Control spot checks on finished products.
  • Conducting food checks for Allergen and Halal Compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Technician to support regulatory and quality assurance activities in our Newcastle unit. In this role, you will assist in ensuring that company operations, products, and processes comply with applicable regulations, standards, and internal policies.

This role will be based on a 12 month fixed term contract as a maternity cover.

What are some of the key responsibilities of this role?

  • Logging and checking all internal HACCP and food safety documentation against company standards to ensure compliance. Feeding back to the departmental managers/ Compliance Manager on deviations and ensuring that corrective actions are noted. Tracking performance
  • Updating and maintaining unit Compliance Activity Planners and supplying relevant information for month-end reports
  • Maintaining key Compliance information such as Legionella files, Fire Log Book
  • Supporting the Compliance Manager with the collation of documentation for Customer complaints/ comments
  • Assessing the company HACCP against new products to ensure controls are adequate at a local level
  • Reviewing H&S documentation including supplier reports, risk assessments and COSHH
  • Completing and assessing Accident Investigation reports
  • Assisting the unit management team with the Quality Control of finished products by carrying out spot checks on flight components to confirm adherence to specification. This will include Chef Tables, Portion Controls, Equipment/ stores checks, bar checks and pick checks
  • Conducting internal Food Safety and Health and Safety audits, feedback results and monitor corrective actions
  • Conducting food checks to confirm adherence to both Allergen/ FIR regulations and Halal Compliance

This list is not exhaustive, accountabilities may vary dependant on locality or role complexity and may include any other duties considered reasonable by the line manager.

What you’ll have:

Desirable

  • A qualification in Food Safety Level 3 or above (desirable)
  • Experience in a similar role within the food industry (desirable)
