Compliance, Risk, Audit and Safety Officer

Job Title: Compliance, Risk, Audit and Safety Officer

Location: Central Office based in Islington with hybrid working and regular service visits

Shift Pattern: 12-month fixed-term contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00, with flexibility as required

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly skilled Compliance, Risk, and Audit team. The team comprises a Director, Head of Service, and three experienced officers, with this role as the fourth member. Despite its small size, the team delivers work of significant depth, strategic importance, and high quality across SIG. They support SIG's strategic direction through governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

The role contributes to maintaining a safe and transparent environment, supporting staff, residents, and participants, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and processes, and support data protection and health frameworks in line with regulatory changes.

  • Review reported AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, collaborating with teams to implement remedial actions and mitigation strategies
  • Conduct service visits and team meetings focusing on safety reviews, training, and providing guidance
  • Manage and analyze data, producing clear, high-quality reports
  • Support organisational complaints processes, ensuring adherence to policies and timescales
  • Investigate whistleblowing concerns, supporting teams and protecting whistleblowers

About you

  • Experience in complaints, incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
  • Knowledge of governance systems, risk management, investigations, and report writing
  • Experience managing quality standards
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures
  • IT proficiency and ability to learn new software, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to write clear, readable reports
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Awareness of the impact of stigma and marginalization on people with complex needs
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation in care and support settings
