Job Title: Compliance, Risk, Audit and Safety Officer

Location: Central Office based in Islington, hybrid with regular service visits

Salary: £35,700

Shift Pattern: 12-month fixed-term contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00, with flexibility as required

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly skilled and dedicated Compliance, Risk, and Audit team. The team comprises a Director, Head of Service, and 3 experienced officers, with this role completing the team.

Although the team is small, they deliver work of significant depth, strategic importance, and high quality across SIG. They support SIG's strategic direction through governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

This role contributes to maintaining a safe and transparent working environment, protecting and empowering staff and participants, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will drive professional compliance, risk, audit, and safety standards, policies, and processes to develop a safe, inclusive environment for all.

Responsibilities
  • Support data protection, health, and safety frameworks in line with regulatory changes
  • Review reported AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, collaborating on remedial actions
  • Conduct service visits and team meetings focusing on safety, training, and guidance
  • Manage data, analyze trends, and create clear, high-quality reports
  • Facilitate organizational complaints processes, ensuring adherence to policies and timescales
  • Investigate whistleblowing concerns, supporting teams to act appropriately and protect whistleblowers
About you
  • Experience in complaints, incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
  • Experience with governance systems, risk management, investigations, and report writing
  • Knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
  • Proficiency with IT and Microsoft programs
  • Ability to write clear reports and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of stigma and marginalization impacts on individuals with complex needs
  • Knowledge of legislation related to health and safety in care settings
