Company: North Wales Fire and Rescue

Job title: Compliance Officer

Department: Business Fire Safety

Location: 1 x Central or East – Conwy & Denbighshire or Flintshire & Wrexham; 2 x West – Gwynedd & Ynys Môn

Job Status: Full Time • Permanent, 37 hours per week

Salary: NWFRS Grade 05 £29,064 to £31,022 per annum

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and enforce fire safety at businesses and non-domestic properties in the area of responsibility.
  • Undertake fire safety audits and inspections under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RR(FS)O) and other relevant legislation.
  • Complete all necessary reports, legal notices, recordings and administration to improve fire safety compliance.
Qualifications and skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret and analyse physical and written information and provide accurate and clear advice on business fire safety legislation.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with good interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with internal and external individuals and groups.
  • Desirable: ability to communicate confidently and fluently in Welsh; applications from those committed to improving Welsh language skills will be considered.
Role details
  • Two roles based in the West (Gwynedd and Ynys Môn) and one role covering Central or East areas.
  • Agile working available: remote from home where possible, subject to availability, and some work from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service locations.
Training and progression

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is committed to providing training, development and promotional opportunities for the right candidates. Further advancement may be available once competency is demonstrated and suitable vacancies arise.
