What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a highly motivated Compliance Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulatory compliance within biotechnology or life sciences environments, a solid understanding of biosafety and biosecurity protocols, a self-starting proactive attitude, and a strong desire to contribute to a positive team culture.

The successful candidate will work closely with our operations and scientific teams to establish and maintain robust compliance frameworks, ensuring our scientific processes meet all regulatory requirements, and helping optimise the safety, quality, and auditability of our organisational systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive laboratory safety, biosecurity and biosafety protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Draft, review, and update organisational policies and training materials related to compliance, safety, and quality, ensuring effective communication of policy changes and requirements across the organisation.
  • Drive and coordinate the drafting and maintenance of our scientific risk assessments in collaboration with the science team, and help develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive health and safety onboarding programs for new employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Work closely with the scientific and operations teams to develop and maintain audit trail systems for our electronic lab notebooks and LIMS to ensure data integrity, traceability and quality.
  • Design and implement quality management systems (QMS) to ensure consistent processes and documentation standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance and recommend corrective actions

Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc
    in relevant scientific discipline (Biology/ Biochemistry/ Bioengineering/ Cell Biology etc.).
  • Demonstrable experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance or biosafety within the life sciences sector.
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards and regulations relevant to molecular biology and GMO processes.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and documentation control processes
  • Strong work ethic and keen interest in building a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail, organisational skills, and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable skills:

  • Understanding of biotechnology research processes and laboratory operations.
  • Prior research experience working in an industry/start-up setting.
  • Training and development experience, particularly in technical or safety topics.
