Job summary

A growing financial services business in Scotland is seeking a senior compliance professional to act as the MLRO and MLCO. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a compliance role and a strong understanding of AML frameworks. This leadership role involves ensuring regulatory compliance and providing guidance to the business. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across all levels.

Job description

A leadership-level opportunity has arisen for a senior compliance professional to join a growing financial services business. The successful candidate will hold regulated responsibilities as MLRO and MLCO and play a key role in ensuring full adherence to local regulatory and AML requirements across both the company and its client base.

Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Acting as MLRO and MLCO for the company and certain fund or client structures.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance is embedded across the business and aligned with local AML legislation.
  • Producing Compliance and MLRO reports for the Board and client boards.
  • Managing regulatory registers, the compliance and risk monitoring programme, and sanctions screening.
  • Supporting the MD and wider leadership team with compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Leading internal policy development and ensuring consistent adherence to procedures.
  • Attending periodic board meetings for the company and its POI clients.
  • Providing AML and regulatory guidance to the business, including during new business take-on.
  • Reviewing escalated CDD cases and ensuring completion of periodic client due diligence.
  • Overseeing training and mentoring for staff on compliance and AML requirements.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior compliance role and hold a relevant professional qualification. Strong understanding of AML frameworks, regulatory reporting, CDD processes, and board-level interaction is essential. The successful individual will be a confident communicator with sound commercial judgement, a structured approach to problem solving, and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels.
