Job description

Compliance Manager - Liphook

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Liphook Office

Description

Rocksteady Music School is the UK's largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children's self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We're currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching tens of thousands of children every week - and we're growing fast.

Our beautiful converted manor house in rural Liphook, as well as our lively office in Birmingham's jewellery quarter, are home to our central office teams - this role is primarily based in Liphook but you'll work with all teams. We all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons. We are a community of music lovers using our individual talents to help give children the self-belief to succeed. That's what gets us out of bed in the morning.

We're now looking for a compliance manager in our operations team in Liphook to ensure that the company and our staff adhere to relevant laws, regulations and internal policies including Health & Safety, GDPR, and Information Security.

As compliance manager, you will:

  • Act as data protection lead, be the first port of call for all data incidents, facilitate quick assessment, oversee mitigation and corrective actions and follow processes alongside our DPO.
  • Audit and report on the company-wide adoption of Rocksteady's information security strategy, policies, and procedures, working alongside our Chief Technology Officer and Security Lead.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of a suite of internal policies and registers, ensuring they are up to date by working with the relevant managers at the appropriate times. Also responsible for securely storing important documents such as risk assessments, safeguarding reports, etc.
  • Coordinate environmental, social, governance (ESG) data collection and reporting across the organisation by liaising with relevant departments to submit regular reports.
  • Work with our Office and Facilities Manager to ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to and logs are regularly monitored.
  • Be responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with our vehicle and mileage capture platform.
  • Regularly report on compliance performance, risks and trends across the business in the above areas to management and the senior leadership team.

As compliance manager, you'll need:

  • Proven experience working in a compliance-based role.
  • The desire to be part of a values-driven business with the children's experience at its heart.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work to deadlines.
  • A strong eye for detail and capable of producing comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to analyse and assess situations quickly and provide effective solutions and manage compliance risks.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to work independently or as part of an energetic team.

We appreciate that previous experience does not always tell the full story so if you like the sound of this role, don't rule yourself out if you feel you don't tick all the boxes.

Benefits

  • Work 35 hours per week from our beautiful office setting - our standard hours are 8am-4pm but if a variation of those hours suits you better, just ask.
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Personal development opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including discounts on everyday purchases, free 24/7 GP service.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Employee discount at nationwide music instrument retailers.
  • Celebratory staff away-days, Christmas parties and social events.
  • Opportunities to work with the Rocksteady Foundation, reaching children and young people in charities and support groups across the UK.

Every once in a while, you get the chance to be part of something really special. When you join Rocksteady, you know immediately that you've found it. We might be growing fast but we pay special attention to protecting our unique working culture and ensuring everyone feels comfortable to be themselves at work. We look out for each other, welcome new colleagues as friends and stay true to our small-company roots; rolling up our sleeves if a job needs doing, solving problems together and, most importantly, always putting the children first. Likeminded people are joining us and we're reaching more and more children with our lessons every week. We keep growing because we're driven by our passion for the life-changing nature of music.

Join us and use your skills for good.

Your Passion. Their Future.
