Job description
Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Compliance Manager to lead our compliance operations across a diverse property portfolio. This pivotal role sits within the Asset Management department and is responsible for ensuring our organisation remains fully compliant with fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical and mechanical regulations.

You will oversee servicing, repairs and installations, working closely with the Head of Fire and Compliance and other senior leaders to maintain safe living and working environments. Your responsibilities will include producing assurance reports for the Executive Team, managing contractor performance, procuring suppliers, and leading audits across all compliance areas. You’ll be accountable for the management of fire safety equipment, assisted living systems, catering and laundry installations, and other critical infrastructure across our housing, supported living, and care home stock.

This role also involves maintaining compliance with the Fire Safety Order 2005, ensuring valid fire risk assessments are in place, and coordinating timely completion of fire risk actions. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and residents to promote fire safety awareness, support health and safety training, and contribute to major incident planning. With direct line management responsibilities and a budget of approximately £3.5 million, this is a high-impact role that demands strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong leadership.

About you

You are a confident and knowledgeable compliance professional with a strong background in housing, facilities management, or local authority environments. You hold a relevant compliance qualification and ideally have IOSH or NEBOSH certification. Membership in the ASCP or a similar professional body is desirable.

Your experience includes managing compliance maintenance programmes, fire safety remediation, and working with asbestos, legionella, gas and electrical systems. You have a solid understanding of building compliance regulations, the Fire Safety Order 2005, and risk assessment protocols. You’re comfortable producing reports for senior management, communicating effectively across all levels, and working under pressure with a varied workload.

You bring strong administrative and IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Keystone software or compliance portals such as Zeta Safe, Vision, or Risk Hub would be advantageous. You have access to a roadworthy car and are willing to participate in an out-of-hours rota and major incident response.

The successful applicant will require a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate which is considered satisfactory to Housing Solutions.
