Are you a detail-driven compliance expert with a passion for product safety and regulatory excellence. We are looking for a Compliance Lead to oversee and enforce adherence to UK regulations and standards across our product range. In this pivotal role, you will drive compliance with product safety, environmental and consumer protection laws, proactively managing risk while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

Working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm from Monday to Thursday with an early finish on Fridays (8:30am to 4:30pm)
We offer a competitive salary of £43 – 47k depending on your experience and look forward to discussing this with you during the interview process.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be at the heart of ensuring our products meet all UK regulatory standards. Overseeing compliance across packaging, labelling, testing and risk assessments, while staying on top of legislative updates. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, report on compliance status and risks and drive continuous improvement throughout product development. Main responsibilities include:
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all products comply with UK regulations.
Monitor updates to UK legislation and standards affecting nursery products and ensure timely implementation of changes.
Report and provide transparency regarding the liability (cost) towards EPR and plastic tax.
Proactive approach to NPD and what requirements we will need, with any cost implications and impact on the critical path.
Ensure that all product packaging and labelling are to correct to current regulations and compliance.
Ensure that future legislation is translated and interpreted in a proactive and transparent way to the product development team.
Testing and Certification
Oversee product testing processes to ensure compliance with mandatory safety and quality standards whilst controlling/limiting and providing transparency regarding testing costs.
Co-ordinate with accredited laboratories to obtain necessary certifications and documentation for all products, including the development, production and editing/amending of all product manuals.
Maintain accurate records of compliance testing and certifications for auditing purposes.
Manage cost and critical path for delivery on time to budget of all projects.
Risk Assessment and Management
Conduct risk assessments for products to identify potential hazards, providing RAM reports to ensure transparency across the business.
Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to mitigate risks.
Manage product recalls and consumer safety communications when necessary, providing transparency through the production and circulation as needed.
Management of product issues, collaborating with customer service to ensure customers' issues can be easily rectified at no cost to the business. Ensuring the smooth running of the spares process and ensuring any issues are flagged accordingly.
Policy Development and Training
Develop and update internal compliance policies and procedures.
Train staff on compliance requirements, focusing on product safety, labelling and reporting obligations.
Ensure compliance with policies and ensure training is up to date.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with design, production and marketing teams to integrate compliance considerations into product development and promotion.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, trade associations and external partners to ensure best practices.
Work closely with the logistics department on issue management, effectively leading product changes throughout the business and manage costs accordingly.
Design and manage the inbound quality checks.
Attend and participate in product strategy reviews, product development meetings and sign off meetings.
Input and accountability for the QC aspects of the supplier strategy.
Conduct industry standard ethical and technical audits of the current and future supply base.
Auditing and Reporting
Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Prepare and present reports on compliance status, risks and action plans to senior management.
Report product returns, trust pilot and other key business KPIs as required.
Ensure that timely risk management reporting is transparent and provided to the key stakeholders and assessment of product risk is identified and shared transparently.
Respond to customer service feedback regarding issues and escalation process.
Prepare and approve the pre-shipment inspections, gold seal sample sign off.
Staff Management
Building, developing, and overseeing the QC team to ensure growth and effective performance.
Working with the wider teams to build strong communications and support structure changes and growth.
Required skills include:
Proven experience (3+ years) in regulatory compliance, preferably in the nursery products or consumer goods industry.
In-depth knowledge of UK product safety laws and standards for nursery products.
Familiarity with risk management and product testing processes.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Experience in consulting with regulatory authorities and certification bodies.
Professional certification in compliance or risk management (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional - CCEP) – preferred.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
