Vice President - Compliance Engineering - Full Stack Software Engineer

OUR IMPACT


We are Compliance Engineering, a global team of more than 400 engineers and scientists working on complex, mission-critical problems.


We:

  • Build and operate platforms and applications to prevent, detect, and mitigate regulatory and reputational risk across the firm.
  • Access the latest technology and process vast amounts of structured and unstructured data—processing approximately 1 billion trade records and 5 billion market data records daily.
  • Leverage modern frameworks to build responsive, intuitive front-end and Big Data applications.

The firm is investing significantly in upgrading and rebuilding the Compliance application portfolio in 2025 and beyond. As part of this initiative, we are establishing a new Compliance Engineering team in Birmingham. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of this exciting new team and influence its vision. With leadership based in Birmingham and the UK, this role involves collaboration with senior management and strategic planning.


To support these efforts, Compliance Engineering is seeking to fill several full-stack lead roles across different teams.


HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL


As a team member, you will:

  • Partner globally with sponsors, users, and engineering colleagues across divisions to create end-to-end solutions.
  • Learn from experts and mentor junior team members.
  • Leverage full-stack technologies including Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, APIs, MongoDB, Elastic Search, DMN, BPMN, and Kubernetes.
  • Utilize data-streaming technologies such as Kafka CDC, Kafka topics, EMS, and Apache Flink.
  • Innovate and incubate new ideas.
  • Work on a broad range of problems involving large data sets, real-time processing, messaging, workflows, and UI/UX.
  • Drive the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Java development.
  • Experience in automated testing and SDLC concepts.
  • Strong goal-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with global teams and being a team player.
  • Self-motivation with excellent time management and organizational skills.
