Job description

Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Automation, the Compliance Engineer Manager is responsible for resolving all compliance issues related to the engineering and automation equipment. This role involves creating and executing compliance programs, documentation, and recommending process changes.

Kingsway facility is a highly automated site with over [insert square footage] of operational space, equipped with various machinery from different suppliers, including miniload, shuttle, GTP, Rotapick, sorter, and conveyors. The facility operates 24/7, handling millions of units monthly.

Responsibilities

  1. Define maintenance, renewal, and upgrade strategies for automated equipment to ensure performance, quality, and availability.
  2. Manage Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) according to manufacturer instructions and ensure proper implementation.
  3. Enhance technical knowledge of the facility, improving equipment and maintenance plans to ensure compliance and minimal operational impact.
  4. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards, such as PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, Machinery Directives, British and DIN Standards, BS7671 18th Edition.
  5. Monitor engineering team job orders, define KPIs and metrics to improve performance.
  6. Oversee Health & Safety procedures within the engineering team, leading by example.
  7. Establish and monitor automation and compliance indicators like OEE, ROI, ISO, FEM.
  8. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding compliance and safety instructions for equipment use and maintenance.

Experience Required

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a compliance engineer.
  3. Proficiency in report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures.
  4. Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  5. Strong technical knowledge of retail intralogistics automation equipment and technology.
  6. This position is permanently based at the Kingsway facility.
