Compliance Engineer Manager

Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Automation, the Compliance Engineer Manager is responsible for resolving all compliance issues related to engineering and automation equipment. This includes creating and executing compliance programs, documentation, and recommending process improvements.

Kingsway facility is a highly automated, 1,000,000+ sq ft site with equipment from various suppliers, including miniload, shuttle, GTP, Rotapick, sorter, and conveyors. It operates 24/7, handling millions of units monthly.

Responsibilities

  • Define maintenance, renewal, and upgrade strategies for automated equipment to ensure performance, quality, and availability.
  • Manage preventive maintenance (PPM) according to manufacturer instructions, ensuring proper execution by the engineering team.
  • Enhance technical knowledge of the facility, improving equipment and maintenance plans to ensure compliance and minimal operational impact.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards such as PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, Machinery Directives, British and DIN Standards, BS7671 18th Edition.
  • Monitor engineering job orders, define KPIs, and implement metrics to improve team performance.
  • Lead health and safety procedures within the engineering team, promoting safety objectives.
  • Establish and track automation and compliance indicators like OEE, ROI, ISO, FEM.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding compliance and safety instructions for equipment maintenance and use.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a compliance engineer.
  • Proficiency in report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong technical knowledge of retail intralogistics automation equipment and technology.
  • Position based permanently at Kingsway facility.
