Purpose of the Job

Providing specialist regulatory advice to clients and supporting the delivery of complex regulatory implementation projects. Helping to maximise our presence within the industry to secure new clients and business opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

You will be an integral part of the Payments Practice whose clients range from UK based SPIs to international EMIs and FMIs providing innovative fintech solutions. The role will be varied and challenging, enabling you to see the payments industry from a unique perspective as part of a flexible consulting team. Your core responsibilities will be focused on client delivery and servicing as well as business development. This will involve the timely provision of regulatory and compliance advice and guidance, participation in marketing and business development, technical research, producing technical materials and supporting RegTech solutions.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the continuing growth of the Payment Practice and you will also gain exposure over time to other sectors through cross-practice collaboration initiatives.

Client delivery and servicing

  • Providing high quality advice and support to clients on a range of regulatory compliance matters, including:
    • Assisting with compliance framework design, regulatory reviews and compliance monitoring;
    • Responding to ad-hoc and routine queries from a portfolio of clients;
    • Developing training materials and assisting with the delivery of training sessions and workshops;
    • Assisting with authorisations, registrations, variations of permission and changes in control;
    • Drafting and maintaining policies, procedures and other compliance documentation;
    • Partnering with global teams and other practices to support shared projects and responsibilities;
  • Having a client-centric approach to retain existing business, developing a thorough understanding of clients' businesses to provide relevant advice, and identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the firm.
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory developments and proactively updating clients and colleagues on industry news.
  • Business development

    • Supporting revenue growth through ongoing support, project work, regulatory transactions, and development of new products and services;
    • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, trade bodies, and regulators;
    • Seeking new client prospects through market research and leveraging existing relationships for upselling and cross-selling;
    • Representing the firm at industry events and promoting the brand;
    • Participating in internal events, training, and marketing activities, including writing articles and preparing proposals.

    Qualifications Required

    Knowledge, skills and experience

    • Motivated individual with a desire to learn, thriving under pressure, with commercial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Likely a degree holder with at least three years of relevant experience in payment services or e-money compliance, gained at a PSP, EMI, regulator, or professional services firm.
    • Thorough understanding of FCA regulations for the payments sector, with experience translating regulatory guidance into pragmatic solutions.
    • Knowledge of PSRs, EMRs, PSD2, FCA Handbook, and related guidelines; understanding of key regulatory challenges in payments and e-money sectors.
    • Experience managing client relationships and projects, with excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple engagements.
    • Knowledge of non-UK/EU regimes and proficiency in Microsoft Office are advantageous.
