Compliance Consultant

Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.

Location: Hybrid - Minimum 2 Days per week in Swindon

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 30th September 2026 (We reserve the right to close this vacancy before the advertised closing date if we receive a high volume of applications.)

The opportunity:

Join us as a Compliance Consultant. This role provides flexible support across the Consulting team, helping ensure work is triaged, coordinated and progressed in a controlled and transparent way. It is designed for someone building their Compliance knowledge and developing the foundations for future advisory or business partnering roles.

You will be supporting a team of Senior Compliance Business Partners across portfolio activity, helping with research, information gathering, drafting, action tracking and follow-up. The role provides resilience and controlled flex capacity, with work allocated based on agreed priorities, deadlines, ageing, risk and available capacity.

This is a development role for someone who brings curiosity, organisation and a strong service mindset. You will not be expected to own senior stakeholder relationships or complex compliance opinions independently, but you will play an important part in helping the team deliver timely, joined up and well-evidenced compliance support.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

  • Support Weekly Triage and Work Allocation: Help maintain a clear view of incoming work, priorities, deadlines, ageing and capacity so support can be directed where it is most needed.
  • Provide Flexible Consulting Support: Support Senior Compliance Business Partners across different portfolios by gathering information, preparing drafts, tracking actions and following up agreed next steps.
  • Prepare Accurate Draft Outputs: Draft meeting notes, summaries, action logs, initial research, issue overviews and briefing material for review by more senior colleagues.
  • Coordinate Information and Evidence: Gather relevant business, Compliance and SME inputs so advice and oversight activity is supported by accurate information and clear records.
  • Support Simple Advisory Matters: Respond to straightforward queries or prepare initial views where guidance is available, escalating uncertainty, complexity or judgement-based issues promptly.
  • Maintain Second-Line Boundaries: Understand the distinction between Compliance advice and first-line delivery, avoiding ownership of business decisions, implementation or remediation activity.
  • Support Identification of Advisory Findings: Help identify, record and elevate potential Compliance findings arising from advisory activity, particularly where advice highlights design-related issues in first-line processes, controls or risk mitigation arrangements.
  • Contribute to a Compliance House View: Support clear read-across between Advisory and Assurance activity by maintaining accurate records, sharing relevant insights and helping ensure advice, issues and findings are joined up across the Compliance function.
  • Contribute to MI and Reporting: Help collate and maintain data on demand, status, ageing, deadlines, actions and outcomes to support visibility of service and capacity.
  • Use AI and Technology to Improve Ways of Working: Support the team in using approved AI tools, automation and technology to improve efficiency, consistency, insight and the quality of Compliance outputs, while maintaining appropriate governance, accuracy and human oversight.
  • Build Compliance Knowledge: Develop understanding of Zurich’s business areas, customer journeys, regulatory expectations and Compliance ways of working through practical experience and coaching.

What are we looking for?

  • Developing Compliance Awareness: Interest in financial services regulation and willingness to build understanding of FCA expectations, customer outcomes and Compliance’s second-line role.
  • Understanding of Findings and Incidents Expectations: Awareness of Compliance’s role in identifying, logging and escalating findings and incidents, including the importance of recognising where advisory work may reveal issues that should be captured formally.
  • Joined-Up Compliance Perspective: Ability to support a consistent Compliance view across Advisory and Assurance teams, helping reduce the risk that matters identified through Assurance could reasonably have been identified earlier through advisory engagement.
  • Organisation and Follow-Through: Ability to manage tasks, track actions, meet deadlines and keep accurate records.
  • Clear Written Communication: Ability to produce concise, well-structured written outputs for review by senior colleagues.
  • Curiosity and Learning Mindset: Willingness to ask good questions, understand the reason behind requirements and learn from feedback.
  • Collaboration and Service Mindset: Ability to work constructively with colleagues, respond positively to changing priorities and support the wider team.
  • Judgement and Escalation: Ability to recognise when matters are complex, sensitive or uncertain and escalates appropriately.
  • Digital Confidence and Responsible AI Use: Confidence using technology to organise work, improve processes and support high-quality outputs, with an interest in learning how AI can be used responsibly and effectively in a Compliance environment.
  • Personal Effectiveness: Ability to maintain quality, manage competing demands and build confidence in a busy Compliance environment.
