Legal Compliance Assistant at a Brighton Law Firm

We are working with a progressive full-service law firm in Brighton. Our client is seeking a proactive Compliance Assistant to join their dynamic team.

Role overview: In this position, you’ll be involved in vital tasks aimed at enhancing the firm’s risk management processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal regulations, and supporting due diligence-related tasks. You’ll work alongside senior managers to address regulatory queries, implement improvements to working practices, and ensure the firm meets its obligations.

Qualifications and qualities: We’re looking for someone with a background in legal compliance, ideally within a law firm or professional services. The ideal candidate is adaptable, ambitious, eager to develop professionally within risk and compliance, familiar with case management systems and MS Office, with an eye for detail, strong interpersonal skills, and previous administrative experience.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Assess policies and procedures for potential weaknesses
  2. Support senior staff with internal investigations, claims, and complaints
  3. Assist with creating risk management frameworks
  4. Manage file requests from external entities
  5. Carry out internal audits on compliance according to professional conduct rules
  6. Contribute to risk management and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions
  7. Support quality assurance programs, including Lexcel and AML audits
  8. Collaborate with other departments to meet regulatory obligations
  9. Assist with information for tenders and Practicing Certificate renewals
