Compliance Analyst - Contract Role

Our client, a gold refiner and bullion merchant currently seek Compliance Analyst for a short-term contract basis. This placement will be based in their high-security refinery in the Beckton area of East London. The company primarily trades gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium bars and numismatic coins, in a range of weights and sizes aimed at private investors, collectors and institutional clients. This position will report to the Compliance Manager, who supports the Head of Compliance/MLRO in developing a risk reporting framework to reduce regulatory risk and provide compliance training to colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Constructing, reviewing and supporting compliance policies, procedures and processes to ensure that the systems and controls framework is adequate and up to date.
- Conducting compliance reviews, performing compliance monitoring,internal auditsand surveillance to ensure that policies, procedures and practices are being followed and adhered to.
- Ensuring that the AML systems and controls meet regulatory requirements and are followed.
- Preparing internal reports and management information, aiding with filing regulatory reports.
- Monitoring UK and EU regulatory developments relevant and applicable to the firm.
- Conducting client onboarding, KYC, OSINT, and due diligence for HNW and UHNW individuals, retail jewellers, bullion traders, large corporations, financial institutions, and global mining companies.
- Preparing and researching the Supply Chain Due Diligence Statement and Policies of the company.
- Identifying any potential risks or blind spots in operations.
Candidate requirement
- Minimum 3 years experience of operating in an investigative, regulatory or compliance environment.
- Knowledge of client onboarding processes including KYC, OSINT, AML and due diligence procedures.
- Strong analytical skills to extract insights from complex data sets.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey findings effectively.
- Experience in project management for buying goods and services, performing due diligence both in the UK and internationally.
- An ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite.
- The ability to work in a challenging environment, whilst supporting standards and composure.
- Familiarity of GDPR, anti-money laundering and anti-bribery legislation would be helpful.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent and/orideally with a legal or compliance qualification.
