The world’s biggest challenge needs you, here.

Big challenges require big solutions. And the transition to a net-zero world is about as big as it gets. Working at Shell Energy - one of Australia’s leading energy retailers - puts you at the heart of that endeavour.

Lead the change, from the frontline

Join Shell Energy’s retail energy business as a Regulatory Affairs Compliance Advisor, based in Brisbane or Melbourne. In this key role, you will support the Manager of Regulatory and Compliance in compliance risk mitigation, analytical risk identification, and compliance reporting. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing compliance objectives and processes within the Compliance Framework.

As a pivotal member of our team, you will deliver precise and prompt regulatory advice, ensuring our compliance framework evolves with industry changes. You'll champion a culture of compliance, engaging extensively with Shell Energy and its affiliates. Collaborating closely with the compliance team, you'll adeptly manage risks through strategic mitigation, vigilant monitoring, and comprehensive reporting. Moreover, you'll steer and counsel the business on emerging and dynamic regulations, positioning us at the forefront of industry standards.

With respect, integrity, and honesty, responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a compliance and risk management framework for Shell Energy’s retail business.
  • Provide timely and accurate regulatory advice for energy retailing in the NEM, WA, and related gas sectors.
  • Support regulatory licensing requirements for Shell Energy Australia’s B2B and B2C retail activities.
  • Identify, analyse, and manage regulatory issues and risks, ensuring effective mitigation.
  • Establish and maintain compliance documentation, monitor regulatory changes, and manage staff compliance training.

What you’ll bring

You’ll possess working knowledge and experience in the regulated Australian energy environment, including jurisdictional energy regulations, the Australian Privacy Principles, and Australian Consumer Law.

You are a strategic and analytical thinker with strong investigative and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an inquisitive attitude.

Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to respond quickly and decisively to new regulatory compliance risks.

You are highly organised with advanced time management skills.

Tertiary qualifications and relevant industry certificates/training are desired.

Why join our team

Every day, our people bring deep expertise, true innovation, and investment to help our customers - and the world - reduce their environmental footprint. You can be part of that change.

Here are the top reasons why our people choose us:

Purpose that you can see. As part of our team, you’ll have the best shot at energising a better future, one customer at a time.

Work that’s interesting, innovative, and high impact. We hope you’ll love the challenge and opportunity to achieve - for our customers and for you.

People who bring the expertise and drive to succeed. Our team is respectful, inclusive, and supports connection and collaboration.

Join us. Together, we can make the difference count.
