A large, Secondary SEN school in South East London is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistants to join their expert team from September 2025.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs to access learning, communicate effectively, and develop independence. You'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff in a classroom setting adapted to meet each child's specific needs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting students with a range of complex needs including ASD, PMLD, and sensory processing difficulties
  • Providing 1:1 and small group assistance during lessons and therapeutic activities
  • Using visual, sensory, and communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton) to enhance understanding
  • Assisting with personal care, physical support, and behaviour regulation as needed
  • Creating a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment
