Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Wareham. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resourceful, and dedicated to helping students with a range of complex learning and developmental needs thrive in a nurturing environment.

About the school
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.

Key Responsibilities of Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Personalised Support: Assist in implementing tailored learning strategies for students with complex needs.
  • One-on-One Guidance: Provide individual and small group support to foster academic and emotional growth.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and report on student development to inform teaching strategies.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support.
  • Inclusive Practices: Promote a classroom culture of respect, understanding, and inclusion.
  • Creative Engagement: Use innovative methods to engage students with diverse learning styles.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and interventions.

Requirements for Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people with complex needs or disabilities.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Empathy: A nurturing and patient approach to supporting students with additional challenges.
  • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive are essential.
  • Qualifications: Training in special education or care work is advantageous but not essential.
