Job description

Job Title: Complex Needs Teacher
Location: Redbridge
Salary: £150 - £220 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Full-time

Are you a dedicated and qualified teacher passionate about supporting students with complex needs? If so, GSL Education are seeking an experienced Complex Needs Teacher to join a dynamic and inclusive school in Redbridge. This is a full-time role where you will make a significant difference in the lives of students with a range of additional needs.

Role: As a Complex Needs Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, tailored lessons to students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), speech and language impairments, and other complex needs. Your approach will foster an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring every student can thrive.

Responsibilities of the Complex Needs Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with the wider SEN team.
  • Use specialist communication methods, such as Makaton or PECs, to support students with speech and language impairments.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to monitor progress and set achievable targets.
  • Lead and manage classroom support staff to ensure effective collaboration and student engagement.

Requirements of the Complex Needs Teacher:

  • Fully qualified teacher status (UK QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching students with complex needs, including PMLD and speech and language difficulties.
  • Knowledge of specialist teaching strategies and communication tools such as Makaton or PECs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
