Complex Needs Teacher – Special School – Solihull

A specialist school in Solihull is looking to appoint an empathetic and caring Complex Needs Teacher to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a well-resourced school where every class has a maximum of 10 pupils and up to 3 experienced teaching assistants, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive.

As a Complex Needs Teacher, you will deliver creative and personalised lessons for pupils with a range of needs, including SLD, physical disabilities, Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication challenges, and other complex needs. The school’s supportive Headteacher and strong leadership team are committed to helping staff succeed, and you will benefit from excellent facilities and resources that make learning engaging and accessible for all. Teachers from both primary and secondary backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with complex needs.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Working closely with teaching assistants to ensure pupils receive effective, consistent support.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals.
  • Supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of all pupils.
  • Using strategies that promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
The ideal candidate will have
  • QTS and experience teaching in either a primary, secondary, or SEND setting.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with Autism, MLD, and complex needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A flexible, creative, and caring approach to teaching.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
