Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the Tottington area of Bury. You will work closely with teachers to support pupils with a range of complex needs and help them access personalised learning activities.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, assisting with communication, personal care where required, and collaboration with the SENCO and external professionals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with complex SEND.
• A caring, patient and compassionate approach.
• An understanding of autism, developmental delay and communication needs.
• Confidence supporting pupils with personal care where required.
• The ability to follow individual support plans and safeguarding procedures.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with complex needs.
• Supporting communication through visual aids, gestures and alternative communication strategies where appropriate.
• Helping pupils access personalised learning activities.
• Supporting sensory activities and emotional regulation.
• Encouraging independence and the development of essential life skills.
• Assisting with personal care where required and following agreed care plans.
• Supporting pupils during classroom activities, transitions and break times.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
