Shell in the United Kingdom seeks a CDM Analyst to design, operate and improve data flows and business processes across Power and Gas portfolios. You will deliver automation solutions, validate data, map processes and embed governance to ensure data quality, traceability and scalable improvements.
The role requires translating business requirements into practical solutions, supporting testing, and working with multiple delivery teams to optimise data handling, reporting and settlements.
The Complex Deal Management (CDM) Analyst supports the design, operation and continuous improvement of data flows and business processes across the Power and Gas portfolios. The role combines detailed business-process understanding with data analysis, digital enablement and hands‑on delivery of automation solutions. Working across multiple delivery teams, the analyst helps ensure that complex deal data is complete, controlled, traceable and fit for operational, settlement and reporting purposes. The purpose of the role is to improve the quality, efficiency, control and scalability of Complex Deal Management through better use of data, standardised processes and fit‑for‑purpose automation. The analyst will investigate data and process issues, translate business requirements into practical solutions, support delivery and testing, and help embed new ways of working across both Power and Gas. A key expectation is active participation in the development and implementation of new strategic solutions. This includes contributing business knowledge, defining requirements, supporting data mapping and validation, participating in testing, and helping ensure that the resulting solution is operationally robust and usable by the business.
The successful candidate combines strong analytical capability with practical delivery skills and a sound understanding of business operations. They are curious about how data moves through systems, comfortable working across functional boundaries, and disciplined in turning ideas into controlled and sustainable improvements. Experience working with complex data, business processes or operational systems in energy trading, trading operations, settlements, finance, risk operations or a comparable environment. Ability to understand and analyse end‑to‑end Power and Gas data flows and explain how upstream data, calculations and process decisions affect ETRM, settlement, invoicing and reporting outcomes. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to reconcile data across systems, identify root causes and convert findings into practical actions. Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, process flows, data mappings, test cases, controls and operating procedures. Ability to contribute effectively to digital or automation delivery, including solution design, user acceptance testing, implementation and post‑deployment support. Strong controls mindset, with attention to data quality, auditability, traceability, access, exception management and sustainable ownership. Clear and professional communication skills, with the confidence to work with both business and technical stakeholders and to challenge constructively where needed. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and take ownership of issues through to resolution while contributing positively within a collaborative team.
A strong candidate will be data‑led, technically curious, process‑minded and commercially aware. They will connect Power and Gas business knowledge with practical data and automation delivery, contribute constructively to Ada and Trident, and produce improvements that are accurate, controlled, scalable and usable in day‑to‑day operations.
