Title: Commercial Account Handler - Complex Commercial
Location: Gillingham (Dorset)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join our team based in Gillingham (Dorset).

This role involves providing technical, customer relationship, and administrative support to a nominated Account Executive (AE) and the wider team. You will handle complex commercial risks across various industries, working with both existing and new business opportunities. The role includes client visits, servicing accounts during the renewals process, negotiating premiums, and preparing reports and documentation. A background in broking and a good understanding of customer service, negotiation, and market awareness are essential.

This position offers a long-term opportunity for a seasoned Broker/Account Handler with broad commercial insurance knowledge seeking increased responsibilities.

The day-to-day:

  1. Support AEs in achieving new business and renewal targets through proactive administration and customer support.
  2. Assist AEs in managing prospect pipelines and profiling prospects using various media and information sources.
  3. Research prospects before client visits, including Credit Safe, Google, and other sources, and prepare documentation.
  4. Gather quotations for potential up-sales before new business visits.
  5. Arrange renewal appointments and accompany AEs to strengthen client relationships.
  6. Prepare renewal review reports, including claims experience where applicable.
  7. Obtain quotations for up-sales and include them in review documents.
  8. Broking new business or renewals to the market aligned with AE strategies, preparing comprehensive submissions.
  9. Respond promptly to client and insurer inquiries, involving AEs for technical or relationship issues.
  10. Maintain efficient diary and debt management systems.
  11. Coordinate with insurers and third parties regarding client insurance needs.
  12. Provide administrative support to colleagues as directed.

Your Experience:

  • At least 2+ years of commercial insurance experience in broking or underwriting
  • Ability to manage new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments
  • Strong understanding of Commercial Insurance products and options
  • Knowledge of Acturis software is advantageous
