Job summary

Harmony Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Complex Care Healthcare Assistant to support a client with complex needs in Somerset. You will work with the regular Personal Assistant, accompany the client to hydrotherapy and physiotherapy appointments, and provide home-based care including PEG feeds, moving and handling, and personal care.

Weekend and daytime weekday shifts are available, with training provided. A patient-centred, flexible approach is essential to ensure safe, consistent care.

Qualifications

• Experience with PEG feeds and fluids protocols.
• Ability to assist with moving and transferring clients safely.
• Hoisting and mobility support experience preferred.
• Providing personal care with discretion and respect.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex care needs.
• Comfortable accompanying clients to appointments in the community.

Responsibilities

• Support the client at home and accompany them to hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions.
• Assist with PEG feeds and fluids before and after sessions.
• Support personal care, dressing and showering where needed.
• Assist with moving and handling and safety precautions.
• Remain poolside during hydrotherapy sessions to provide reassurance.

WE'RE RECRUITING – COMPLEX CARE HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT

Location: Somerset

Harmony Healthcare is looking for a compassionate, reliable and experienced Healthcare Assistant to support a client with complex care needs in Somerset.

We are recruiting to provide additional support across weekends and during the week, including assistance with hydrotherapy and physiotherapy appointments.

AVAILABLE HOURS

• Weekend Support – Every Other Weekend
• Saturday: 8:00am–12:00pm
• Sunday: 8:00am–12:00pm
• Thursday Support – Weekly
• Thursday: 8:00am–3:00pm
• Supporting attendance at hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will work alongside the client's regular Personal Assistant (PA), who is familiar with their individual needs, routines and preferences.

The role will involve supporting the client at home and accompanying them to hydrotherapy and physiotherapy appointments.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• PEG care, including feeds and fluids.
• Moving and handling.
• Hoisting and mobility support.
• Personal care, including dressing and showering.
• Supporting individuals with complex care needs.
• Community access and attending appointments.

Previous hydrotherapy experience would be desirable, but it is not essential as appropriate training can be provided.

HYDROTHERAPY SUPPORT

The successful candidate will work alongside the regular PA during hydrotherapy sessions.

• Supporting PEG feeds and fluids before and after sessions.
• Assisting with personal care, dressing and showering.
• Supporting moving and handling procedures.
• Remaining poolside during the session to provide reassurance and assistance.
• Helping with equipment and supporting the client's comfort and safety.

The hydrotherapy session will be led by the client's physiotherapy team, with the PA and HCA remaining poolside.
