Job summary

SCR is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to care for a woman in her 40s living in her own home in the United Kingdom. The role involves non-verbal communication, personal care, nutrition, medication and overnight monitoring, with shift patterns including day and night hours.

The position is initially temporary with the potential to become permanent based on performance and fit. Applicants must have PEG feeding experience, epilepsy training and a valid UK driver's license.

Qualifications

• PEG feeding experience is essential.
• Medication administration training and experience required.
• Epilepsy training is required.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex care needs.
• A full, valid UK driving licence is required.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
• Excellent observation and communication skills, especially with a non-verbal client.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care with dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Support with feeding and nutritional needs per care plan.
• Administer medication per prescribed procedures.
• Follow epilepsy management procedures and monitor concerns.
• Support Rett syndrome patient with mobility issues.
• Conduct hourly overnight monitoring when ventilator is used.
• Work independently and with another worker for personal care tasks in pairs.
• Undertake light household duties to keep a clean, safe home.
• Communicate with the care team and report changes in condition.
• Promote comfort, wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.
