Job summary

Nycil is seeking a team of Complex Care Personal Assistants to support a gentleman with motor neurone disease in his family home near York. The role involves 1:1 care in a 24-hour arrangement, with options of 12-hour shifts by one or two PAs.

You will provide personal care, ventilator support, medication administration and assistance with meals, transport using WAV, and outdoor activities. DBS required and a friendly, calm demeanor is essential.

Qualifications

• Complex care experience is required or preferred.
• Ventilator management knowledge is essential.
• Eyegaze experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Rate: £15.00 per hour PAYE or £17.00 per hour if Self Employed

A gentleman with motor neurone disease residing near York is seeking a team of dedicated, positive, kind and experienced personal assistants to support him in his family home. He is wheelchair and ventilator dependent and uses Eyegaze to help with communication.

The 24 hours can be for 1 PA or 2 PA’s with 12 hours each

The car is on a 1:1 basis

You will be able to deliver the quality of care and support he deserves to live life to the fullest by providing a safe environment, companionship, sharing great moments and creating memories.

Key responsibilities;

• All aspects of personal care
• Ventilator management

• Support with eating and drinking
• Basic domestic tasks and housework
• Using his WAV for transport and support to appointments and the odd adventure (full driving license and WAV confidence essential)

Key Experience;

• Complex care skills and knowledge
• Powered wheelchair

• Manual handling and hoisting
• Eyegaze experience and knowledge (desirable)

Person Requirements;

• First aid trained
• Must be comfortable with dogs (friendly spaniel)
• Great sense of humour
• Positive outlook
• Calm
• Experience of care in the home
• Enjoys the outdoors
• Comfortable taking long walks alongside the off road wheelchair, also lots of dog walking
• Enjoy gardening (general tidying and maintenance)
• A DBS is required for this position

Experience:

• Complex care: 2 years (preferred)
• Moving & Handling: 1 year (preferred)
• Eyegaze: 1 year (preferred)
