Job description

Registered Nurse for Paediatric Client - Sheffield

Nurse Seekers are proud to be recruiting for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RGN or RSCN) to provide care for a 4-year-old child with cerebral palsy in their home in Sheffield. This role involves delivering high-quality care in a comfortable and familiar environment, ensuring the child's needs are met with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide complex airway management, including deep suctioning, ventilation machine management, and use of a cough assist machine.
2. Administer and manage gastrostomy feeds and ensure proper site care.
3. Perform urethral catheterisation (both intermittent and indwelling).
4. Follow bowel care regimes, monitor for potential issues, and act promptly when needed.
5. Administer complex medication via gastrostomy as per care plans.
6. Maintain excellent communication with the child, family, and team members.
7. Supervise and support junior staff, providing guidance and leadership when necessary.
8. Recognise and manage seizures, including the administration of rescue medication as outlined in the care plan.
9. Use and support the child with moving and handling equipment, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Essential Skills & Experience:

1. Previous experience working with children who have complex needs, including cerebral palsy.
2. Confidence and competence in complex care tasks, including airway management, gastrostomy care, and catheterisation.
3. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both the child and their family.
4. Experience in seizure management and handling specialist equipment for daily living activities.

In return the successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly pay rate which is negotiable depending on experience.
