Rotherham Hospice is seeking a compassionate and skilledComplementary Therapist to join our team.The Complementary Therapist will play a crucial role inproviding holistic and integrative therapies to patients in our inpatient unitand at home through our Hospice at Home service.This role offers an opportunity to enhance the well-beingand qualityof life of patients and their families by deliveringsupportive and comforting therapies.

Main duties of the job

Therapeutic Services

Provide complementary therapies such as massage,aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, and relaxation techniques to patients in theinpatient unit and at home through the Hospice at Home service.

Tailor therapy sessions to meet the individual needs andpreferences of patients, considering their physical condition, emotional state,and treatment goals.

Patient Assessment and Care Planning

Conduct initial assessments and consultations withpatients to determine their suitability for complementary therapies and developpersonalised care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy interventionsas needed to address changes in symptoms, pain levels, and overall well-being.

Patient Education and Support

Educate patients and their families about the benefits andpotential risks of complementary therapies, providing information and guidanceto help them make informed decisions about their care.

Offer emotional support, active listening, and empatheticpresence to patients during therapy sessions, creating a safe and supportiveenvironment for healing and relaxation.

Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team,including nurses, social worker, therapists, and chaplains, to ensurecoordinated and holistic care for patients and their families.

Job responsibilities

Therapeutic Services

Prepare reports and updates on therapy activities,outcomes, and trends for review by the senior leadership team.

Person Specification
Experience and Qualifications
  • Certification or qualification in complementary therapies such as massage therapy, aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, or similar modalities required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing complementary therapies in a healthcare setting, with experience working with patients with life-limiting illnesses preferred.
  • Experience working in a hospice environment, understanding the unique needs and challenges of this setting
