Job summary

Blackthorns Primary Academy is hiring a Teaching Assistant on a permanent basis to support teachers and pupils in the classroom. The role involves assisting with lesson delivery, managing behaviour, and helping students access learning, including those with special educational needs.

The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, supervise activities, and provide individual attention as needed. The school emphasises safeguarding and a collaborative team approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in building positive relationships with students and understanding their needs.
• Knowledge of SEN is desirable for supporting diverse learners.
• GCSEs in Maths and English at grade A-C or equivalent are required.
• Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors with confidence.
• Patient, calm, and enthusiastic approach to learning is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Teacher in planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning activities.
• Consistently implement agreed behaviour management strategies.
• Work 1-2-1 with students to support learning access in class.
• Motivate and encourage students with individual attention and help with tasks.
