Job summary

You Matter is seeking a Support Worker in Runcorn to provide empathetic, person‑centred support for residents experiencing homelessness and addiction issues. You will work with the Director of Homeless Services to shape service delivery and operational planning to high standards.

The role involves 37.5 hours per week, shifts from early to late including weekends and bank holidays, with a salary of £30,000 per annum. A supportive team environment and ongoing personal development are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in charity or homelessness sector with complex behaviours.
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing law.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality.
• Empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Commitment to flexible, solutions‑focused work.
• Strong time management and prioritisation.
• IT literate with MS Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming new residents in line with policies and procedures; carry out risk assessments and support independence.
• Ensure residents' basic needs are met, including accommodation, food, advice and guidance.
• Promote and safeguard welfare of adults/children/young people at risk.
• Advocate for social inclusion and access to health and financial support.
• Ensure Housing Benefit and service charges are collected and managed.
• Develop and review written support plans reflecting residents' needs and goals.
• Work with services to address physical and mental health issues; liaise with health teams.
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary and coordinate with services.
• Raise health, safety and maintenance issues promptly; support continuous improvement in the service.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision and reflective practice.
• Be flexible and responsive to changing needs; uphold SHREK values in all work.
• Promote a supportive and inclusive culture; value diversity.
