Job summary

Encompass in Jedburgh seeks a Personal Assistant to support a lady in daily life, helping independence, personal care and community activities. You’ll work with a small team and receive full training, including catheter care, and you will drive the client’s car.

Hours: Monday 2pm–10pm with sleepover, Friday 7:30am–22:00 with sleepover. Pay: £14.05 per hour; sleepover rate £12.71 per hour; holiday entitlement 5.6 weeks pro rata.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with autism or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to learn personal and practical care tasks after training.

Responsibilities

• Support the client to be as independent as possible in daily activities, including personal care and meal planning.
• Carry out specialised catheter care once fully trained by District Nurses
• Administer medication as prescribed
• Liaise with team members, family, and professionals to ensure high-quality care
• Encourage and support the client to maintain and develop life skills and independence
• Support the client to access community activities and pursue personal interests
• Respect the client’s values, preferences, and privacy at all times
• Act as an advocate where appropriate and deal with situations calmly and professionally
