Job summary

St Michaels Hospice in Herefordshire is recruiting for 1 x 37.5 hours/week and 1 x 24 hours/week fixed-term (12 months) Palliative Care Support Workers. The role is based in the IPU and involves a 24/7 rotation to cover days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Applicants should have hands-on care experience, be prepared for DBS clearance, hold a full UK driving licence and be 21+ with at least 12 months’ licence history. Training and a supportive multidisciplinary team are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience of delivering hands on care.
• Experience of dealing with challenging situations.
• Basic IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence, over 21 and held for 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised care to patients and families.
• Perform clinical care interventions as trained.
• Escalate changes in condition to the nurse on duty.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
• Assist with meals and support dietary needs.
