Job summary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Hospital Porter for Conquest Hospital to work in a rotating shift pattern including 0800-1600 and 1430-0000. The role includes training to cover waste department duties and requires sensitivity, calmness under pressure, and good communication with patients and staff.

Key duties include moving patients, escorting visitors, mortuary and delivery tasks, handling medical gas, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Evidence of good general education, including Maths and English
• Knowledge of portering role / NVQ level 2 (Desirable)
• Previous Portering experience
• Previous experience of working as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Movement of patients, escort of patients and visitors.
• Deliveries: collect and deliver internal specimens, theatre/x-ray lists.
• Equipment and fittings: keep patient-related equipment clean and report defects.
• Medical gas: deliver cylinders and report gas supply defects.
• Emergency procedures: respond to alarms with appropriate equipment and assistance.
