Life Services Group's Dignity Funeral Directors in South Shields is hiring a Casual Funeral Service Operative to support families during services and behind the scenes. The role offers flexible, occasional shifts and on-call opportunities, with training provided.

You'll handle dignified ceremonial duties, transportation of vehicles, and ensure respectful presentation. A full UK driving licence is essential, and no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Compassionate, empathetic and professional.
• Understands the importance of presentation and discretion.
• Physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and carrying.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible, including short-notice availability.
• Comfortable with direct contact with the deceased.

Responsibilities

• Assisting at funeral services: bearing coffins, setting up venues, and supporting mourners.
• Driving and operating specialist vehicles such as hearses and limousines.
• Representing Dignity Funeral Directors with professionalism and empathy.
• Providing respectful, discreet support to families on the day.
• Maintaining ceremonial standards in appearance, conduct and service delivery.
