Job summary

The Care Assistant role in Swindon is dedicated to providing practical, emotional and physical support to residents in a care home, promoting independence and dignity through personalised care under supervision of the Registered Manager.

You will work a shift-based pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, with bi-weekly pay. Hourly rates are £13.47 (standard), £17.51 (night), and £26.94 (bank holiday).

Qualifications

• Essential: Good literacy and communication skills; ability to read and write English.
• Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or willingness to achieve it.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personal care according to care plans.
• Assist with washing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Aid residents with mobility and safe movement within the home.
• Support nutritional needs through assistance with eating and drinking.
• Encourage independence and daily living skills.
• Foster positive relationships with residents and provide emotional support.
• Assist residents during illness, distress, or end‑of‑life care.
• Uphold dignity, respect, choice, and individuality.
• Record keeping: Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records; complete daily notes and care documentation; report incidents and safeguarding issues.
