Job summary

The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician and Bereavement Support Officer (Band 4/5) for a part-time, 15-hour week (Thursday and Friday) contract. The role is based at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, with a salary of £28,819–£39,631 per annum pro rata.

You will assist in mortuary and body storage services across the health board, support the bereaved with compassion, and work to professional standards and HTA requirements.

Qualifications

• RSPH level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Coroner post mortems, death registration and statutory duties.
• Knowledge of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) structures.
• Membership of the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists.
• Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).

Responsibilities

• Assist pathologist with coronial and hospital post-mortems.
• Maintain mortuary and body storage across the health board.
• Provide mortuary and bereavement cover on other sites within BCUHB.
• Demonstrate empathy towards the bereaved.
• Ensure compliance with HTA standards and guidelines.
