Job Title: HGV Driver
We are seeking a professional HGV Driver to join our team in Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of Heidelberg Materials UK products to our customers, while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the vehicle and all equipment are properly maintained, clean, and records are accurately kept in accordance with legislation and company procedures.
- Comply with company policies, Health and Safety regulations, the Working Time Directive, and Road Transport laws.
- Handle waste disposals, water discharges, and dust emissions following environmental procedures.
- Perform deliveries in a cost-effective, efficient, and courteous manner.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance to meet operational requirements.
- Operate specialized vehicles (walking floor, rolling floor, tipper, concrete mixer) as needed.
- Be flexible regarding location and willing to work away overnight as required by customer demand, supporting high-volume periods.
- Undertake further training, including CRB/Scottish Disclosure checks, to meet customer and company needs.
- Adhere strictly to site safety rules and maintain a high level of safety consciousness.
Qualifications and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of Road Transport Law, Working Time Directive, and relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
- Current DCPC card and valid EPIC/MPQC card.
- Ability to identify and report issues effectively.
- Physically fit, motivated, and capable of working independently.
