Company HGV Driver with a clean licence
Purpose of the role
To ensure that Heidelberg Materials UK products are delivered to customers in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner. To uphold the professional standards of the company at all times. To ensure compliance with all Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Law, and Company procedures as part of daily routines. The regional logistics function manages distribution operations to meet customer requirements, improve performance, and ensure statutory compliance.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain the vehicle and all equipment properly, keep it clean, and correctly maintain all vehicle records as required by legislation and company procedures.
- Comply with company personnel and administration policies and procedures.
- Follow all Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport regulatory requirements.
- Manage waste disposals, water discharges, and dust emissions in accordance with Environmental procedures.
- Perform deliveries in a cost-effective, efficient, and courteous manner.
- Ensure timely and consistent attendance at the operating unit to meet company requirements.
- Perform any other relevant duties as requested by Management.
- Operate specialised vehicles (walking floor/rolling floor/tipper/concrete mixer) as required.
- Be flexible regarding location and willing to work away/overnight as dictated by customer demand, supporting high volumes in other areas if needed.
- Be willing to undergo further training to meet customer requirements, including CRB/Scottish Disclosure checks.
- Maintain high safety standards and strictly follow site rules.
Education/Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4+ or equivalent to a C in Math and English.
- Clean Cat C+E heavy goods license.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Law, Working Time Directive, and relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
- Current DCPC card is essential.
- Valid EPIC/MPQC card.
- Ability to identify and report issues.
- Well-motivated, physically fit, and able to work independently.
- Flexible regarding working hours, including periods of working away from base (nights out).
